A BEEautiful day in Primary Five
The children of Primary Hive Five had a special treat today. They were visited by two local beekeepers, Emma and Thomas.
The children got up close to a live working bee hive which held almost 10,000 bees hard at work making honey. They also listened carefully to Thomas as he showed them a presentation about the life cycle of bees and the different types of bees.
The highlight of the day was when everyone got to taste three different types of honey and vote for their favourite .Before they left, Emma and Thomas very kindly presented the school with six 'Bee Hotels' which will take pride of place in our new pollination garden. Each child also went home with a packet of wild flower seeds to plant in their garden so that we can help maintain the bee population.
Many thanks to Emma and Thomas for such an enjoyable visit.
