Mr Kerr's class visit a Digital Schoolhouse.
On Monday 11th February, the children from Mr Kerr's P5 class went to St Mary's College to take part in the 'Digital Schoolhouse' workshop.
The day got off to a magical start with a little card trick. This was followed by a short session explaining what a computer algorithm is. The children were invited to take part in the 'Baby Shark 'dance and they had to work out the movements needed for the dance and write this into a flow chart. The children quickly learned the importance of the sequence of movements and giving accurate instructions.
After lunch, the children got to 'Get with the Algo-rhythm' as they used code writing software called 'Scratch' to make computer characters move to music.
Many thanks to the Principal and staff of St Mary's for the warm welcome and wonderful hospitality. A special thank you to Mrs Rice and her team of helpers who looked after us for the whole day.
